Overall, a fantastic Yoga session!
"Now let us endeavour to enter the domain of mind, examine the reality of Soul and experience its existence with the help of paranormal powers inherent in the depths of the mind. All seekers throughout the world have been adopting the same methodology. For understanding elementary facts about any subject, there is no alternative to application of penetrating intelligence inherent in the inner world of the mind. Subjective investigation for discovery of the reality of ‘Self’ would also require the aid of illumined intelligence. The science of spirituality calls this process as Yoga"
Today's session was all about Inspirational People.
The Junior youth talked about who they perceived as inspirational people. Though several names were mentioned, many talked about their Mothers & Teachers. This was followed with the Junior youth doing drawings about this.
Senior youth were brilliant. We did a mind map on international women's day and named some famous women and what they're famous for. The youths then wrote about famous women of the past, & the present, and some even looked into the future & wrote down good qualities of what they'd like to see in themselves.
We ended today's session with playing a game where everyone got to know about the new youths that have recently joined. Each youth had to walk around a circle saying their name, something they like and disliked or an embarrassing moment.
During the Youth Group today, we discussed the 'Thought Transformation Movement', what the Torch represents, and the 18 Satsankalpa's. The responses from the youth were amazing. Some of the comments where;
1. People symbolise everyone coming together. 2. The hand represents all their energy and willpower coming into one. 3. The torch brings all the positive energy together and that has got to be strong. 4. The flame gives everyone light, brings everyone from darkness to light. It is everyone's energy and power working together which creates the aura that then protects the people.
Fantastic youth session today....looking forward to next week!!!
During today's youth session, the youth watched a video about Mahashivratri, and had a group discussion about World Book Day. Younger youths did some colouring in, whilst the senior youths had a quiz and took part in a debate of 'Movies v's Books'
The quote discussed today was;
"Realize your worth and believe that you are uniquely made by the almighty in the world"
Gayatri Pariwar Oxford officially launched its Youth Group on Saturday 27th February 2016 with an open day for parents.
The first session saw a successful turnout and both children and parents found this to be an invaluable experience. There was a turnout of around 12 children from the families attending the introduction session which we were really pleased with.
We began the session by introducing the launch of DIYAUK and its aim.
During the session, the following were discussed:
- The basics of a "mantra". What is the significance and why we say it?
- An interactive session where both children and parents were invited to participate their thoughts.
- "What we chant is what we become". This was the moral of the discussion and a translation of the Gayatri Mantra was explained
- An explanation of "Change Transformation", followed by an interactive exercise where both youths and parents played a game about stories with different scenarios. The basis of this exercise was for the audience to experiencing changes in their lives, and to "be the change".
- There was a discussion on leadership qualities. The youths of today are tomorrow's future, and bringing out the inner skills of today's youths. Role models were also discussed.
- The introductory session concluded with an explanation of the objectives of the Youth Group.
Other children have also registered their interest and a second session may be arranged in the near future as more youths start to attend.
If you have questions, please contact our central office in Leicester, and a member of the Oxford Youth Team will get in touch.
Alternatively, come along to the next youth group session on Saturday 12th March, between 3-5pm @ The Forest Hill Village Hall, Main Road, Forest Hill, Oxfordshire, OX33 1DZ. All are welcome!
Today, during the youth group we discussed an article about 'Appreciation and Encouragement'. This was taken from Akhand Jyoti, and we talked about the positive impact of appreciation and encouragement, as opposed to the negative impact of criticism and discouragement. The youth were very engaged and spoke of real life stories. They also promised to promote this.
The article was concluded beautifully with the following line;
"Praise is like honey, which fills the heart with sweetness. This sweetness should always be disseminated and people should be appreciated with an open heart".
