All World Gayatri Pariwar has had a presence in Leicester for over 30 years. Over the last three decades, thousands of events have been held in Leicester, as well as key events on a mass scale like the Grand Ashwamedh Yagya of 1993. Gayatri Chetna Kendra in Leicester is the European headquarters for AWGP, and the Centre has been a central place for all visitors for over 10 years. Recently, in 2010, it had undergone a full refurbishment and the inauguration was carried out by the head of AWGP, Dr Pranav Pandya. Throughout Europe, there are thousands of families who are members of AWGP and are active in working towards Gayatri Pariwar's main goal of fostering divinity in each and every individual and bringing in heavenly atmosphere of universal peace, bliss, progress and togetherness.
As well as regular monthly gatherings, celebrations of all major religious & cultural festivals, there is daily meditation, prayers & arti being conducted in both mornings and evenings. There is a regular youth session each Saturday, swadhyaya (reading and discussion of good thoughts), regular yoga classes on Thursday and Sunday, and a Day Centre for the elderly on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday each week. Seminars and workshops on various spiritual, life development and health related themes as well as advanced yogic sadhanas are held regularly in its purpose-built yoga and meditation hall. The Centre also offers various services to community like vedic rituals of yagya, sanskars (including wedding and funeral services), vastu pooja for a new house, and Shri Satya Narayana katha, prayer for peace and so on the premises as well as at people's houses. These functions have no charges applied with regards to the actual ceremony.
